St. Rose is on the National Register! Print

We are happy to announce that St. Rose was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  This is a major milestone for the Friends of St. Rose after years of anticipation.

This major goal has been discussed ever since we founded this non-profit in 2002.

In 2011, the Friends of St. Rose was awarded $4,000 in grant funding to hire a writer to assist with the application process. The grant was provided by a Minnesota Historical & Cultural Grant which was made possible by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. We, in turn, needed to provide a minimum of 100 hours of in-kind volunteer hours to assist the writers for the research needed. We hired Jane Bisel of Blue Planet Museum Consulting in Rochester, MN. Jane, along with Stevenson Williams, truly made this nomination possible. Their research uncovered several interesting discoveries about the history of St. Rose both architecturally and historically. You can read the nomination online here.

Currently, we are in the process of selecting an appropriate marker to designate this historic site.
